Possible causes, with the evidence for each. Your doctor decides.

MICA

Why each
cause fits.

Each card shows one possible cause, why it fits what you described, and the medical sources behind it. You go through it with your doctor.

MICA does not diagnose. Your doctor does.

When to use it

Five situations, one doctor deciding.

What MICA does in each of them. In every one, a licensed physician reviews the result before anything happens.

Emergency

It is 2am and something feels very wrong.

MICA checks for warning signs first, like chest pain with trouble breathing. If it sees one, it stops and tells you to call emergency services right away, before anything else.

Prescriptions

You need a prescription.

MICA drafts it from what you told it. It checks the draft against your medicines and allergies, and a licensed physician reviews and signs it. Sending it to a pharmacy is not built yet.

Everyday

A rash, a cough, a fever that will not go away.

Describe it in plain words and see what it could fit. MICA’s evidence comes mostly from rare and genetic conditions, so for common illnesses its list is a starting point for your doctor, not an answer.

For your family

Your child's symptoms do not add up.

MICA checks 10,201 conditions, most of them rare and easy to miss, and shows you which fit and why.

Before your appointment

You are seeing a doctor anyway.

MICA hands your doctor a clear summary first: what you described, the possible causes and the evidence. The visit can start from there.

The same arithmetic on every card

Every card uses the same simple math: how common the condition is, and how strongly each symptom points to it. When two causes score exactly the same, MICA shows them as a tie.

on one card

What each part means

Scroll to see what each part of the card means, highlighted on the card as you go.

  1. How strongly it points
  2. Where the fact comes from
  3. A tie
  4. What you do not have
  5. No guessed percentage
  6. Your doctor's sign-off
× 12.9664A cleft palate multiplies the odds of this condition by about 13. MICA multiplies these together to put the possibilities in order.
ORPHA:567Every fact names the medical database it came from, so you or your doctor can check it.
= TiedTwo possibilities scored exactly the same, so MICA shows them side by side instead of picking one.
Seizures: no“She has no seizures” is recorded as absent. On this card it counts × 1.0 and changes nothing. On many others, a missing symptom lowers the odds.
No percentageMICA will not invent a percentage. It shows you the evidence instead.
Doctor sign-offYour doctor checks the card and signs off before anything is final.

On the backAbnormality of the cardiovascular system (HP:0001626). If absent, it favours Cleft lip/palate over Double outlet right ventricle. These are findings to establish, not tests to order.

One case,
three steps

1 · You describe it
Our daughter is 14 months old. She was born with a cleft palate and has had feeding difficulties ever since, she tires out halfway through a bottle. Her ears sit low and her jaw looks small to me. She has no seizures. Two doctors have told us different things and we still do not have a diagnosis.A sample case. Not a real patient.
2 · MICA lists the possible causes
3 · Your doctor confirms

Your doctor sees what you wrote, every possible cause MICA found, and the evidence behind each one. They decide what it is and what to do next.

Nothing is final until your doctor signs off.
